String Cheese Trick or Treat

The String Cheese Incident unveils their new limited edition live release, Trick Or Treat, on October 27, 2009. The timing is fitting, considering the nine-disc box set was culled from a variety of epic SCI "Hulaween" shows. From Atlanta's Variety Playhouse (1998) Philadelphia's Electric Factory (1999), Portland, Maine's State Theatre (2000), New York City (2001), Shrine Auditorium (2002) in Los Angeles, Sin City's Cox Pavillion (2003) and the Exhibition Center @ Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin (2004) - Trick or Treat journeys through the years to re-visit some of the band's most classic Incidents from Halloween's past.

This exclusive box set offers seven of SCI's famous Halloween cover sets in their entirety, including String Cheese performing songs by such artists as the Beatles, Beastie Boys, KC & The Sunshine Band, Phish and many others.

Trick or Treat Pre-Order
The String Cheese Incident and SCI Fidelity Records are pleased to announce the Trick or Treat Pre-Order Campaign.

Beginning on September 23, 2009, the first 500 people who order the Trick or Treat Box Set through MusicToday (LINK) will automatically be entered to win one of thirty (30) first prizes. Contest winners will receive an extremely rare, uncut Trick or Treat poster, featuring the Michael Everett cover art poster, plus all 7 mini-posters from the box set. These uncut sheet will also be signed by the members of SCI!

In addition, the first 200 Box Sets ordered will include Everett cover art posters signed by The String Cheese Incident themselves!

Legalize Hemp and Cannabis in California

Hi Family,

"And if my words did glow, with the gold of sunshine. And if my tunes were played on the harp unstrung..." Please help these words to ripple... ripple becomes a wave... wave becomes a tsunami... pretty soon love and compassion are the law of the land and we can dance in peace and unity!

Right now there are two competing signature drives to put Cannabis legalization initiatives on the ballot in California in November 2010.

One is found at www.taxcannabis2010.org

The other is found at www.CaliforniaCannabisInitiative.org

Please look carefully at the text of both laws (the text of each is finalized) and make up your own mind which one you support.

I am supporting www.CaliforniaCannabisInitiative.org because our law will protect Cannabis users from discrimination in

healthcare, employment, and housing. It is a full legalization measure for industrial hemp and recreational cannabis which will restore full human rights to Hemp farmers and Cannabis users all across California. Of course supplying Cannabis to children will remain illegal just as it is today. Driving vehicles under the influence will remain illegal just as it is today. Cannabis users will still be fired from their jobs if they show up to work impaired.

There are two parts to our plan. The first part is to publicly post and personally distribute our "Freedom Lover's Call to Arms" in order to recruit volunteers. This document is available here-

www.imgur.com/dbU83

The second part of our plan is to ask everyone who volunteers to make a pledge for how many signatures they can collect in

the next 30 days or so. 15-30 signatures is a good number. If enough volunteers show this level of commitment we can succeed. You can probably get that number from your family members, friends, co-workers, and neighbors without having to solicit in public too much. This is an "out of the closet" movement. We will have to proudly advocate human rights for responsible, honest, hard-working Cannabis smokers in order to convince legitimate people to support us. I can supply stickers equivalent to each persons pledge number. These stickers can be used to generate interest and be given to voters who sign the petition. Here is the sticker design-

www.imgur.com/2cjvb

Feel free to distribute and use these images. Just don't copyright them.

We have 145 days in order to get the number of signatures that we need. Our petition is hot off the press on 9/11 and we

have started collecting the first signatures yesterday 9/12.

We are polling 56% public support for Cannabis legalization in California which menas that this is an initiative which is not doomed. Its time has finally arrived; we are at the tipping point right now. Now is the time to do this and to do it right. We may only get one chance. If a law which is not exactly what we want is implemented then we may lose our critical mass and our ability to set it right.

I believe that less adults will smoke cannabis after it is legal. This is the case in the Netherlands where it has been

available over-the-counter for 30 years yet only half as many citizens (percentage-wise) smoke as do citizens here. My economics professor has taught for years that prohibition has not succeeded in decreasing usage by increasing penalties. Instead it has destroyed lives and families without substantial benefit to society. After legalization hard-drug usage will decrease due to a "separation of the markets," a decline in the price of Cannabis relative to hard-drugs, and the restoration of honesty and common sense in drug education. Violence, thievery, and the incarceration of honest people will decrease as well. I also believe that a well regulated market will decrease the availability and appeal of cannabis to children. In fact teenage Cannabis use in California has fallen steadily since the passage of Proposition 215. Furthermore the adults who smoke Cannabis after legalization will be better able appreciate the majesty of nature in peace and unity without learning to fear and disrespect authority figures. This will be better for their spirits and better for society. Finally the human rights of legitimate medical Cannabis patients will be better protected than they are today. Legalizing Cannabis will create a safer, healthier, and more humane California for us all to live in.

If you want to help us in any way please contact the CCI campaign at www.CaliforniaCannabisInitiative.org or write me at
deep_space_underground@yahoo.com I give you my encouragement to modify this message if necessary and distribute it to anyone who might help on any forum or by any mechanism.

Love,
-Fully Committed

Desert Rocks Anyone???

Hey out there!

Just wanted to see who is going to Desert Rocks Music Festival in May?? I heard from friends who went last year that it was AMAZING--I am lucky enough to have visited Moab, UT before, and I can't even imagine the beauty of having a music festival there... The landscape itself is breathtaking (check out some of the pics and footage), and then to think of all the FUN (aka PARTY!) of having people throw down in the desert with friends and great music, yeah!

Tickets are really reasonable (they're only $95 for the whole weekend), they have a Web site with all the info: www.desertrocks.org

And the line-up is sick too, with ALO, The Mother Hips, Hot Buttered Rum, The Motet (and the return of magicgravy, my favorite!), Billy Nershi from SCI is going to be there, and my friends from SF, Big Light...and a bunch more, you can see the full line-up on the Web.

Anyway, just thought I would throw it out there--the festival is May 22-24, in Moab, UT, over Memorial Day Weekend--what a ROCKIN way to spend a 3-day weekend!!!

Here's a cool video I found about last year's fest: http://www.desertrocks.org/desert-rocks-2009-teaser.html

And here's a fun pic from someone who went last year, I can't wait to cheers to it too!

See ya there!!!!!!

CUBENSIS a GARCIA approved experience

Hey there,

I was surfing the tribes and thought you might want to join my tribe for the band Cubensis cause if your into music ( why I'm asking cause it seems you are) then you'll dig the sounds of Cubensis the only Jerry Garcia approved Grateful Dead tribute act.

The group has its craft so well refined that even members of the Grateful Dead themselves, such as keyboardists Vince Welnick and Tom Constanten, have appeared on stage and performed with these live music interpreters. Dead rhythm guitarist Bob Weir praised the band, saying, “Just love what you do...and of course, you do!”

The band doesn't reproduce the Grateful Dead's songs note for note---though it would be hard for most listeners to tell. The Dead's music is highly improvisational, with rock, country and jazz influences. Cubensis members say there's room for interpretation while staying true to the original. “It’s all about tapping into the same inspirational flow,” says Cubensis guitarist Craig Marshall. Dead guru Jerry Garcia granted Marshall permission to recreate the Dead’s music, as long as he "did a good job" of it. “I told him we played all Grateful Dead songs,” recounts Marshall, to which Garcia replied, in mock surprise, “Oh yeah? So do we!”

So come join the Cubensis tribe and celebrate thier 20th year anniversary http://tribes.tribe.net/cubensisband

Melvin Seals & The JGB Band

September 1, 2006

This press release is to proudly announce that local west Sonoma County lighting design company Liquid Light Productions has taken up management of the historic River Theater in Guerneville and to announce our first Music event.

On September 1st, we are honored to host keyboardist Melvin Seals and the original JGB Band. Melvin, shared the stage with Jerry Garcia in JGB for many years and today Melvin, original JGB gospel singers Shirley and Gloria and the highly talented Stu Allen on the guitar makes up a band that most carries the genuine legacy of that traditional “Jerry Band” sound and vibe. Opening this event is Sebastopol’s Sol Horizon with their energetic mix of original reggae –influenced dance music.

Tickets $18 in advance $20 at door. Doors are at 7PM Sol Horizon at 8PM, Melvin Seals at 10PM. For info and ticket outlets call 707-869-3194. Tickets available online at jambase.com

For people who have never been to the River Theater in the delightful town of Guerneville this majestic 1940s era art deco dance hall is one of the most unique venues north of the Golden Gate. The Theater holds 600 people, has a 20 x 30 stage, a multi-tiered dance floor space, state of the art sound and lighting systems, space for vending and food and an outdoor eating area. In the 1960s the Grateful Dead played on this stage and again in the 1980s Jerry Garcia Band, Steve Kimock’s Zero as well as Metallica all did sets on this historic stage. We are excited to once again return this venue to its historic role as music dance hall and community gathering center.

The River Theater is located 69 Miles north of San Francisco. From 101 north of Santa Rosa, take the River road exit, head west 15 miles into Guerneville. The River Theater is in downtown at 16135 Main Street. Phone 707-869-3194

Who's heading to to moe.down and wants to share riding expenses - from Chicago or NYC?

Greetings dearest of the dear moe.rons!

Clara Rose here, an explorer of the mind ready for life's grand experiences... I'm on a bit of quest. My financial situation was quite iffy throuought the beginning of the summer, so I couldn't go to any festivals or shows, even those I was slated as VIP for (I'm a music journalist) due to the cost of travel and "fun". But now, everything's in place again and I'm down to make up for time lost this summer by making it to remaining festies like moe.down and Vegoose. Now on to the question.

Is anyone heading out to moe.down 7 (Sep. 1 - 3) Labor Day Weekend from either Chicago or NYC? If I can find a kind friend to drive out with from my hometown, that'd be optimal and marvelous, but if not I'm going to buy a plane ticket to NYC where hopefully I'll have found someone that's also heading out. I figure the NYC bet may be easier, since the festival is in upstate New York.

I'll pay for half of gas and food and whatever goodies the person is down with. :) I'll also provide more wacky conversation and contagious smiles than a human being can handle. Well, you can probably handle it.

Lemme know, famiily! Please drop me a line at clara@illinoisalumni.org or send a message through Tribe. NYC or Chi-town, festward-ho.

Love and light,
Clara Rose

Derek and Eric

Although the word has leaked a bit over the past few weeks, Derek Trucks’ participation as member of Eric Clapton’s touring band is now official. Trucks will join a group that also features Doyle Bramhall II on guitar, Chris Stainton and Tim Carmon on keyboards, Willie Weeks on bass, Steve Jordan on drums, Simon Clarke, Roddy Lorimer, and Tim Sanders on horns, and backing vocals by Michelle John and Sharon White. The European tour will open on May 5 in France and continue through June 10 before the band picks it up again on July 7 in Italy. As of yet no U.S. dates have been confirmed, although they are expected to follow.

So ,... I just took this survey from Jambase marketing, thanks to whoever put that out there.
Not only was it quite interesting but I had the biggest laugh reading the genre list and seeing
'poppy jam' noted (with descripter of this music type including Dave Matthews Band)

Poppy jam, sounds like something you spread on bread. love it whoever thought of this!

Thanks for making my day once again Jambase.

Weird cosmic costumery encouraged.

www.jambase.com/search.asp

As posted on the TLG boards:

Excerpt from Tom Wolfe, THE ELECTRIC KOOL-AID ACID TEST, Farrar Straus and Giroux, Inc., 1968, Copyright 1968 by Tom Wolfe.

The Pranksters had just held an Acid Test at the Fillmore Auditorium, a big ballroom in the middle of one of San Francisco's big Negro slums, the Fillmore district. It was a wild night. Hundreds of heads and bohos from all over the Bay area turned out, zonked to the eyeballs. Paul Krassner was back in town, and he heard the word that was out on ... The Scene. Everybody would be "dropping acid" about 5 or 6 P.M. to get ready for the Acid Test to begin that night at nine o'clock at the Fillmore Auditorium. Krassner arrives and__shit!__he sees:

...a ballroom surrealistically seethng with a couple of thousand bodies stoned out of their everlovin' bruces in crazy costumes and obscene makeup with a raucous rock 'n' roll band and stroboscopic lights and a thunder machine and balloons and heads and streamers and electronic equipment and the back of a guy's coat proclaiming Please don't believe in magic to a girl dancing with 4-inch eyelashes so that even the goddamn Pinkerton Guards were contact high.

I've ended up with an extra tix to the greatest festival on earth and am wondering who would like to join in the fun!! It's a week long cruise going to Jamaica, Grand Cayman Islands and Mexico from January 7-13th. I went last year and can't emphasize enough that it was truly the best time of my life!! There is no backstage, so you're walking amongst musicians like Bela Fleck, Keller Williams, SCI, Umphrey's McGee, Les Claypool, and so many otheres. If you want to learn more about it you can go to www.jamcruise.com and see for youself!
I'm willing to negotiate on the price so let me know ASAP! :-)

You can email me here or at Sunsetrn7@yahoo.com,

Peace!

U-MELT NYE ANNOUNCEMENT! LATE-NIGHT in NYC at CODA!!

from www.umelt.com

Hey Everybody! It is my pleasure to announce that U-Melt will be hosting another late-night New Year's Eve Celebration in New York City. This year, the party will be at club CODA, which is a very cool up-scale venue on 34 E. 34th St. (b/w 5th and Madison). I am also excited to announce that this year, there will be lights brought to you by Bryan Holroyd for you to enjoy while grooving to the music!
The NYE show is 18+, and tickets are only $15 until 12/15, then $20 from 12/16 on. Doors for the show will be at 2:15 am on late-night NYE, technically 1/1/06. The show will begin around 2:45 am and go on till the wee hours of the morning!

Club CODA is conveniently located in midtown Manhattan, easily in walking distance from The Black Crowes and The Disco Biscuits shows occurring earlier in the night at MSG and Hammerstein Ballroom (and walking distance from the Irving Plaza/Union Square and Times Square areas), as well as a short cab ride from Gov't Mule's s how at The Beacon and many other shows and spots you might find yourself bringing in the new year.

Tickets are now available and can be purchased on-line at http://www.coda34.com. After the great success of last year's late-night NYE show, I would encourage everyone to buy tickets ahead of time and take advantage of the discounted price, this show very well might sell out! See you there!!

Russo, Benevento, Gordon by R. Loud

The tour will begin with a Post-Christmas performance in Atlantic City at the The Borgata Hotel and Casino on December 26. On December 27, the boys set up shop at The State Theatre in Falls Church, VA, just outside of Washington, D.C.

December 29 finds the band at the Freebird Live in Jacksonville, FL. Jannus Landing in St. Petersburg, FL, is the site of the performance on December 30... and the band will ring in 2006 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, at the Culture Room.

An allotment of tickets will be available to fans through both Mike Gordon and Benevento/Russo Duo's Ticketing Sites on November 17 at 12:00 pm. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, November 25th through ticketmaster (Atlantic City will go on sale on Saturday, November 26th through ticketmaster).
11/13) and needs your help to spread the word...

Here's how you can help:
to everyone you know in California and ask them to do the same.
3) Post the tour dates to your favorite Newsgroups
4) Personally contact friends in the greater Bay and Northern
California area and personally invite them to the shows.
5) Check out Jambase.com to see the Article on the Newswire (the more
hits to the article the more attention jambase will give us.)
6) Go to jambase.com and put our shows on your calendar. (login, go to
the show and hit the info icon, then click add to my calendar) This
